Get the Mark

Do you want the EWG VERIFIED® mark on your products? Here are the important documents to fill out to help us ensure that your products qualify for our mark.

We recommend that you read this page before you start the application so you can familiarize yourself with the process and the required documentation.

How to join the EWG VERIFIED® Program:

Phase 1. Product submission – create an account or log into our EWG VERIFIED portal to submit your online application.

a. Create a submission and fill in all required fields.

b. Upload the required documents.

c. Upload PDFs, including all submitted product labels.

d. Submit application payment.

e. You will receive an update on progress and details about next steps within 2 to 4 weeks. (Phase 1 processing time will be 4 to 6 weeks between June 1 and September 30, when our office operates on a summer schedule.)

f. If our science team finds new ingredients that require a toxicology review, the initial review will be extended an additional 2 weeks.

Phase 2. Ingredient substantiation – provide substantiating documents for restricted ingredients.

a. If your product is eligible to move forward, you will be required to submit substantiating documents to prove your product complies with applicable restrictions (details will be provided). Some examples of substantiating documents that may be requested are:

i. Laboratory test reports.

ii. Certificates of analysis.

iii. IFRA Conformity Certificates.

iv. Concentration Statement.

b. Once these documents have been submitted, you will be notified within 6 to 8 weeks whether your product has been approved, is ineligible for licensing, or requires further documentation. (Phase 2 processing will take 8 to 10 weeks between December 25 and January 2, when our office operates on a holiday schedule.)

If the product is approved, you will receive the licensing contract.

When the contract is finalized, you will receive access to and training on how to use the mark.
